Check out this new interview I did with The ED Project!THA F.O.R.M.U.L.A. of Organized Threat shares his story with us. Q: You say you’re with Organized Threat. What can you say about that?A: I have to mention that Organized Threat or OGT for short is not a label but rather a movement.Q: What is your genre of music?A: You could say it’s Hip Hop Instrumental.Q: How would you describe your style? A: The best way I could explain it would have to be a mixture of Golden Era Hip Hop, Ambient, Classical, Electronica, and Soul music.Q: Which instruments do you play?A: I play the Piano, Alto Sax, and Bass Drum.Q: When and why did you start doing music?A: Around 2006 I began to gain a big interest in music, being in middle school and experimenting with different instruments, but it wasn’t until 2008 that I really can say I started doing music.Q: Do you do music full-time or do you have another job?A: Currently I am not able to because my main priority lies in earning my college degree in Multimedia.Q: How often and for how long do you prepare before making music?A: There really is no preparing for me; I just kind of do music on the spur of the moment. You can say when inspiration just hits me, which can be really at any point in the day. As far as how long it takes me to make a beat, I would have to say anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on what I feel like doing with the beat.Q: What is the name of your CD, upcoming CD, and all previously released albums? A: The current project I have out is titled A Peace of Sound. The follow up to this project is titled As Sound Travels, set to be release early 2014, but this summer I have a compilation mixtape coming out titled Cloud 99 Cent. Q: What is your formula for success?A: Not to sound cocky, but it’s being THA F.O.R.M.U.L.A. Hahaha! By that I mean staying true to myself, and the music that I want to create.Q: What are your ultimate goals in music? What are you ultimate goals in life? A: My ultimate goal is to be able to produce for anyone from the underground to the mainstream, as well as be able to create a name amongst the greatest producers to ever do it. As far as my ultimate goals for life, I wish to one day be in a position to provide for those closest to me, be it my close family and friends, and just live a good life over all.Q: Which famous musicians have you learned from?A: First and foremost I would have to say DJ Premier. Next would come Nujabes, the Neptunes, Kanye West, Flying Lotus, Clams Casino, Dr. Dre, and finally J. Dilla.Q: Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal? A: At the moment I am not. I’m quite satisfied where I am being a producer for the Organized Threat movement. I really would like to see how far I could get doing it independently. Q: What’s next for you?A: To continue on this journey, and to continue producing on other artists’ projects as well as my own.Q: What are the links where people can hear your music?https://www.facebook.com/thaformula818http://fequalsmc.tumblr.com/http://thaformula.bandcamp.com/https://soundcloud.com/tha-f-o-r-m-u-l-a-f-mc
